A review of the teams in Euro 2012 Group B aka 'The Group of Death along with the best odds on the market and the Betting Bible verdict.
Group B - Group of Death
There are definitely three potential winners in this Group. Even this Group's whipping boys Denmark would have fancied themselves to qualify in any other group. Both the winner and runners up will back themselves to beat the winner and runners up of Group A.
Denmark - 100/1 on Ladbrokes
If Denmark manage to win Euro 2012 it will be the most amazing thing that has happened since......they won in 1992. Is there also a bit of irrational pricing going on here? After all, Denmark did finish above Portugal in qualifying (albeit Portugal had a crap start and strong finish). The German defence won't be too worried about the less than prolific Bendtner, however Christian Eriksen may pose more of a problem.
Betting Bible verdict - Don't even bother putting a quid on it. The odds will slip further when the Netherlands deal with them
Germany - 100/30 with Sky
10 victories in their 10 qualifying games, runners up at the last Euro's, a young but experienced squad, Mario Gomez and Mesut Ozil....it's not really surprising that Germany are the favourites.
As well as a strong attack, Germany boasts the best keeper in Europe in Neuer, they'll need him to keep out the likes of Ronaldo, Van Persie and Sneijder.
Some people have questioned whether the squad morale and confidence will be damaged by Bayern Munich's Champions League defeat given that over half the starting line-up will be from the Bavarian club. We think this is unlikely!
Betting Bible verdict - Not much in the odds but worth backing with Sky's £10 free bet offer.
Netherlands - 6.9 with Pinnacle Sports
Prepare yourself for a goalfest, the Netherlands scored the most goals out of all teams in qualifying for Euro 2012. They were also runners up in the last world cup so does it make sense that they are double the German odds? The bookies are probably pricing in the fact that Netherlands have lost to Sweden, Germany and Bulgaria in the last seven games but even so these odds sound a little long to us.
Betting Bible verdict - Second favourites to get through the Group, the odds are likely to shorten after the Denmark game and look attractive compared to Germany.
Portugal - 20/1 with Stan James
Portugal had a horrible start to their qualifying campaign and despite winning five of their last six games still had to beat Bosnia in the play off to reach the finals. Having said that, in Ronaldo they have the best player in the tournament and cannot be written off.
Betting Bible verdict - At 20/1 they are worth a punt, if they manage to surprise Germany those odds will fall off a cliff.
