The best spread betting company can change over time, comparing the offerings of each spread betting company is a tedious and a continuously moving task, and as an investor you will want to focus the majority of your efforts on trading itself, not on comparing who is the best provider. Betting Bible continuously reviews the best spread betting company offerings, such as who has the tightest spreads, the lowest stakes, and the lowest margins, so you don't have to.
Note - The recent events at WorldSpreads make it more important than ever to think about not only the prices being offered by the spread betting company, but other factors such as their financial stability. Always be wary of spreads that look too good to be true, and do your own research on the company.

|Capital Spreads and the London Capital Group in general, in our view provide the best solution to Financial Spread Betting in 2012. IG Index held this position consistently in previous years, however but for the number of markets offered, Capital Spreads is now outcompeting IG Index on our main areas of study. This combined with a geniunely fast, reliable platform, and good charting software, puts them in our number one spot for 2012.
ProSpreads markets itself as "The Professional's Choice". They aim to attract the high rolling professional traders as opposed to beginners. What attracts professional traders to ProSpreads - they have DMA functionality which means prices should perfectly reflect the underlying markets and therefore gives the investor the opportunity to exploit liquidity i.e. perfect for scalping
|When it comes to advertised prices, CMC Markets stands out. However, it also has its drawbacks with platform speed and "requote" issues, so some people will argue that you get what you pay for, and we prefer to use SpreadCo here which has consistently low prices (tight spreads) but less system speed issues.
|The level of ETX Capital spreads (with the exception of FX) is actually up there with some of the cheapest providers, making ETX Capital our recommended provider if you’re looking for low stakes. Finspreads also deserve a mention in this category.
|Up to £1k sign-up bonus, and a demo account, this is really good place to go to if you're starting out, but are planning on taking spreaed betting very seriously. It’s not easy to get the full £1k though – as the bonus you're eligible to is the maximum of 10% of your initial deposit, plus you need to have staked double the bonus amount to get the bonus.
|Those looking to maximise leverage and combine cheap prices CMC provides both. In addition, CMC Markets offer the option to have a deleveraged account, for those traders looking to benefit from the advantages of spread betting (such as tax, and easy access to markets) but not be exposed to the more risky side of spread trading.
|In a league of its own in this respect. SpreadEx does offer something different in terms of Sports, although the SpreadEx spreads are some way behind the majority of the competition.
